About Yarmouth
Yarmouth is
convenient to Hyannis and the rest of Cape Cod. A very popular destination
for families, Yarmouth has many motels & hotels. Like Dennis, it
encompasses both the north and the south side of the Cape, and each section has
its own flavor. Yarmouthport, along Rte, 6A on the northside, is where you will
find historic homes, antique stores, and fine restaurants, as well as the
beautiful Bass Hole with a boardwalk perfect for watching sunsets. Rte. 28,
along the south side, is full of shopping, family fun and entertainment, such
as mini-golf (complete with miniature lighthouses), the Zooquarium, and many
family-style seafood restaurants (most with yummy, classic entrees like the
fisherman's platter, lazy lobster, etc.) South Yarmouth also has its share of
nightlife, and many beaches on the Nantucket Sound.
History
One of the oldest towns on
Cape Cod, Yarmouth was established in 1639. There are indications that Leif
Ericson navigated Bass River over 1,000 years ago. A bi-coastal town, Yarmouth
offers a diversity of activities. There is the faster paced south side with
Route 28, lined with gift shops, restaurants, mini-golf and more; and also the
quieter north side which Route 6A winds through, lined with stately sea
captains' homes, and views of the bay.

Grey's Beach Boardwalk in Yarmouth offers a unique view of Cape Cod's marshes.
